7 THINGS I LEARNT IN 7 DAYS ........ IN Lagos

#1. 5 minutes is a lot of time. 5 minutes delay in catching a bus can make you spend 5 hours in traffic .
#2.Never expect the clouds before you know it will begin to rain and when it starts raining/drizzling, don’t assume it will stop.
#3.Over 50% of the people are rude/lousy so try as much as you can not to take an offence.
#4. Almost everywhere is polluted but don’t accept this as a norm and don’t contribute to it.
#5. There is a lot of hustle and bustle, try to get used to it.
#6. They say “don’t go out with too many important things in your hand bag” I  don’t want to find out why.

#7. The place is overcrowded jor.

IN CASE YOUR JESUS SLEEPS ON CROSS-OVER

Luke 8:22-25

I read this few verses of scriptures and though they were not new to me, the perspective I gained was definitely new. They gave me a different view on the events that have taken place in my life over the past one year.

So it was a really good day and Jesus’ disciples were having a great time with Him. I mean the almighty Himself was with them; the one who had performed miracles, a large crowd sought after Him. What a privilege. It kind of sounds like that time when the presence of the Holy Spirit is apparent in our lives and people close to you can attest to it. I am speaking of that time when you are having a vibrant walk with the Holy Spirit and you receive every word/ instruction from Him with deep conviction, fellow believers around you want to have that kind of deep conviction too. God is with you and you know it.

So Jesus asks His disciples to come along to the other side. That’s the same way I sensed God was calling me to the other side last year - another side. Certain policy changes took place in my office and the restructure required that I moved to another department and because I wanted a more career- promising unit, I took the offer but that required me to move to another side, to change geographical location. I crossed over completely out of my comfort zone to an unknown “other side”.

I prayed about it and I was convinced that was part of God’s plan for my life. I knew I had His approval. It felt safe, believing that every other thing was going to be sorted out. I also launched out because the ‘path of the righteous’ ought to shine brighter and brighter, right? And our path can’t shine brighter unless we walk, I mean walk with God, right? So the disciples launched out too.
But as they sailed, He fell asleep.

If he had fallen asleep and the sail remained smooth, that would have been okay. Instead, He fell asleep and there was a storm of wind. What a bad co-incidence. Have you ever had such a bad co-incidence before? I have had one. After I got into a new environment, things did not turn out the way I expected. The challenges I encountered felt like Jesus was in my boat, but He had fallen asleep. I had no friends, I had hostile colleagues who didn’t want you to move ahead or past them in anything, I needed a place of my own to stay in, I didn’t know what church to attend, had frequent malaria, conjunctivitis and other minor health challenges set in, it was a devastating experience and obviously anyone could tell that the Jesus in my boat had fallen asleep. And then the bad co-incidence was that I lost the job, the same job for which I relocated. My confusion heightened.

Could it be that when the disciples saw the storm and turned to Jesus only to find Him sleeping, they felt like jumping out of the boat to swim back to shore? I mean right back to where they used to be. Back to their comfort zone. Well, that was what my natural instinct told me to do, but I saw that there had to be more in this for me. Thank God the disciples did not jettison Jesus (the only saving factor from the sinking ship. When the same storm comes on your ship and Jesus, though in your boat is sleeping, do you jettison Him? Or do you jump off the boat and swim back to your comfort zone? That storm could represent a very difficult time in career, relationship, marriage, adulting, business, parenting and it could be poverty or intimidation that makes you feel like the Jesus in your ship is asleep.  Your ship may be filled with water that begins to erode everything you once held dear, you must remember that there hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. – 1 Cor 10:13.

It is not the time to throw all hope away for we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. – Heb 10:39
So they had to wake Him up and that was okay, yet it seemed like it was not the proper thing to do. He didn’t expect them to wake Him up, not because he loved sleep but He expected them to have calmed the storm by faith in His name and a word of rebuke. I am glad he calmed the storm before He revealed the whole essence of the journey, after all He was in it with them. I wish I gained this earlier. That Jesus was with me in my situation and that He never sleeps nor slumber. That when I am at my wit’s end; just about to break, he always makes a way.

So what was the essence of the cross-over expedition? It was an opportunity to express faith; an avenue to attain maturity. The disciples were certainly going to narrate their cross-over story in future but it would no longer be just a story but a life changing event that would transform lives of others.
That is how I feel about my experience today. He called me for a cross over to the other side but He was setting me up for something - something more than just me; something to press me, shake me, cook me until I learnt how to trust Him only, something that helped me see me better and see life through a whole new perspective. Something to help me trust, depend on and obey Him all the time, something to help me learn the pattern in which He with me.

I am glad I chose to cross to the other side. How about you? Has He been asking you to come on a sail and you are bothered that He is going to sleep off? Or have you began the sail and He is not only sleeping but the storm, wind, and flood are about to swallow you up? Don t wake Him up yet, lest He asks ‘where is your faith’? Exercise your faith today. Face that situation and let the devil see that because Jesus is in your boat, you can never sink. Learn through the experience and let it gradually bring you to maturity.

THE DYNAMICS OF GOD

THE DYNAMICS OF GOD
That I am confused and feel helpless and it looks like God is nowhere in the picture doesn’t mean He is not in it; working something out. Ask Ruth!

That all the ‘i’s seem dotted and the ‘t’s crossed and everything looks picture perfect does not mean that God is in it. Ask Samuel!

That God does it through me or for me at a time or through a process that is contrary to logic does not mean my results don’t hold sway. Ask Peter about his broad daylight fishing expedition!

That you have tried to solve a problem six different times and you are about to give up does not mean you won’t succeed at the seventh attempt. Ask Joshua!

That no one else is doing it but God has asked you to do it does not mean He is not in it, however how long it takes for the proofs to show. Ask Noah of his 100 years #projectark!

Joseph the dreamer had an encounter and he told, Mary had an encounter and she kept them in her heart. Their reactions did not hamper their destinies.

To thyself only, be true!
Do not put God in a box or a straight jacket because..... the wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and wither it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the spirit.

That is the way of the spirit, it is the way God moves; it is different at different times but to thyself only be true.
be sure you have not boxed Him in a box.

Quotes from my notes.......TIME. ...MONEY. ....PEOPLE

In the first 24 years of my life
I found out that I needed to manage my time
It was so important to master time management.

a few years afterwards
I have come to realize that my time no longer belongs to me but to my boss

But one thing I must manage is my money
It is so important to master money management .

I wonder what I would be focusing on in 1 or 2 decades from now
I suspect it would be people.

But then again, I considered……….

While I tried to manage my time, I gave it to God. Yet didn’t t lose it
If I want to manage my money, why don t I give it to God? So that I don t lose it
And if I ever get to manage people, It will equally be nice to give them to God

I guess this is what “all in all” means

A MAN AFTER MINE OWN HEART

PREAMBLE
I feel like my fingers are beginning to rust or the zeal to put inspiration to paper is slowly dwindling. My last official article on this blog was in February. The other 2 that came afterwards were birthed out of necessity. But since circumstance has now forced me to live in a room cum Mini - Library, the tendency to spend more time with my parchments and laptop has increased. Some of what is in my head/spirit can now finally walk their way to my blog through the pen, paper and the laptop.
A M A N   A F T E R   M I N E   O W N   H E A R T
A layman would describe a CV as a written overview of a person’s experience and other qualifications. It is the first item a potential employer encounters regarding a job seeker. Do you remember how much pressure you put on yourself when you had to customize your own CV, or the shiver that went down your spine the first time you sat before an interview panel and each interviewer had a copy of your CV? Now imagine that you landed your dream job but you did not attend any interview at all. Somebody just told somebody who told somebody certain qualities/experience that you possessed and that was all.
This describes what happened to David. I was reading 1Samuel 16 and I ran into what looked like his CV in verse 18; not the one he customized for himself but the one somebody wrote about him.
1 Sam 16:18
Then one of the young men said, "Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who is a skillful musician, a mighty man of valor, a warrior, one prudent in speech, and a handsome man; and the Lord is with him." NASU
His Personality (skillful and talented)
Above-average, proficient, devoted, intelligent,  revered, dexterous, diligent, resourceful, well-respected, well-developed, reliable, industrious, versatile, excellent, punctual, popular, tactful, sharp, passionate, experienced, kind,

His Character (brave, courageous, prudent)
Ambitious, alert, agile, decisive, quick, discerning, respectful, zealous, well-behaved, smart, peaceful

His Appearance (good looking, handsome)
Attractive, indefatigable, powerful, strong

His Demeanor (good presence)
Attentive, polite, affectionate, patient, deep, sincere, pleasant, delightful, orderly, well-intentioned, sensitive, warm, thoughtful, sweet, loveable, responsible, natural, positive, helpful.
When they needed someone with some/all of the above traits they thought David and guess what! David is a man after God's own heart (1 Sam 13:14 Acts 13:22)
Pretty difficult uhn?! yes I would agree with you because I cannot match up to half-a-quarter of that list.
May I draw your attention closer to the last part of our text (1 SAM 16:18)? i will quote it in 2 versions
Besides, Adonai is with him (CJB)
"What's more," he added, "the Lord is with him." TLB
Permit me to say that this is the most outstanding part of everything that described David.
Surely, other fellows around town had most of all the qualities that you have seen above but the guy who brought the recommendation to Saul must have said to himself "I must not forget to mention this very crucial aspect I have noticed in David's life". God is with him.
Therefore we conclude that it is how God's presence is revealed in a man's life that matters. Every other thing may be applauded by men but the God-factor  makes all the difference.
Luke 16:15
For that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. KJV
2 Cor 10:18
When someone boasts about himself and how well he has done, it doesn't count for much. But when the Lord commends him, that's different! TLB
Ladies, I know that a man who is not after God's own heart should not be after yours but how do you know if God is with a man? I can't say.....lol. You will have to define that for yourself. You have to allow the Holy Spirit's guidance to work through your mind so that you would be able to see and know all that God wants to reveal to you.
Is this a call on the guys to mediocrity? No! it is a  call to live out excellence underlined with the God-factor; to be a MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART.

MY DEVOTION THIS MORNING - TURNING MY NEED TO A SEED

TURNING MY NEED TO A SEED
Text : John 2: 1-9   and 2 Kings 4: 1-7

I am at a point in my life where I am learning that since I do not have enough substance/wherewithal to make happen that which I desire, then I will have to use what I have (which is rather insignificant and not enough) as the seed which will have to go into the ground, decompose and sprout up with the actual substance that I am believing God for.

At the wedding, the miracle worker was in attendance and he did the miracle in a very simple way. Our God is not complex at all. He made use of water (an element already present at the venue of the wedding). Likewise the widow, she was asked to use the very same pot of oil which she already had.

It behooves us as believers to heed God’s instruction in every circumstance that we find ourselves and listen for the simplest instructions. Having heard the instruction, then we must be willing to obey. We must never ever disobey or neglect what He asks us to do. It would have been easy for the wedding attendants to despise “ordinary water” and for the widow to relegate her “small pot of oil” but in these little things which they had in their hands (and were willing to let go) were the actual big miracles that they needed.

Further reading:
1 cor 15:36 How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.37 When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.

Ecc 11: As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.

Whether you have other demands or not
It is because you are a worker

Sometimes your salary is delayed
But you still keep on coming
Sometimes your pay goes right back into the job
But you keep on coming
Sometimes you are ‘shredded’ in the office for something you didn’t do when the work got so cumbersome
But you keep on coming
It is because you are a worker

If you are a banker, lawyer, doctor, driver or engineer
No matter what you do
If you are a teacher, farmer, nurse, soldier or architect
